Michael Herzfeld delivers Annual Angelos Delivorrias Lecture at Benaki Museum in Athens, Greece

On 19 March, Michael Herzfeld, Ernest E. Monrad Professor of the Social Sciences Emeritus in the Department of Anthropology, delivered the Annual Angelos Delivorrias Lecture at the Benaki Museum in Athens, Greece, with the title (translated here) “Monuments of the Word or Intangible Heritage? The History and Consequences of a Misleading Distinction in Greece and Elsewhere.” The text of the lecture, which was given in Greek, will be published in book form, including an English-language translation, by the Benaki’s Museum’s publication department. In anticipation of the lecture, Herzfeld was also interviewed in two leading newspapers (Ta Nea and I Kathimerini).
