The Department of Anthropology at Harvard University is thrilled to share that Peter Manuelian, Barbara Bell Professor of Egyptology, has been granted an award by the Provostial Fund Committee for the Arts and Humanities, towards his proposal "Making of ‘The Art of Intimidation’ in Augmented Reality."
This project will consist of a documentary video chronicling the creation of the Snapchat app “Art of Intimidation.” The app invites visitors to aim their phone cameras at the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East (HMANE) 3rd floor Assyrian palace reliefs, bringing them to life digitally, restoring ancient colors with animated figures, sound effects, and an Assyrian palace guard “avatar” to inform and serve as a tour guide.
