Harvard Anthropology Professor Peter Manuelian Awarded NEH Grant

The Department of Anthropology at Harvard University is pleased to share that its current Director of Graduate Studies, Professor Peter Manuelian, has been awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Scholarly Editions and Translations grant. Manuelian will be directing a project titled "Ghost Writers of Upper Egypt: A Unique Archive of Arabic Field Diaries in the Archaeological Literature of Egypt and Sudan" which will prepare hand-written diaries of Egyptian foremen who assisted American archaeologists in their excavations from 1913 to 1947 for print publication.
