Better Outcomes for Homeless Hospital Patients

Sajen PlevyakHomeless patients are among the most disadvantaged in our society, suffering from poor health outcomes and exhibiting disproportionately high hospital utilization and spending. However, to date, hospitals have only scantily devoted time or resources to the housing coordination aspect of homelessness.  In a study published in the journal Healthcare, a Harvard-led team has proposed a new model for the coordination of care and housing.  The team, which includes senior Anthropology concentrator Sajen Plevyak, recommends a new framework that coordinates hospital-based and outpatient housing navigators.
