2023 Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize | Harvard Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology is thrilled to announce its 2023 Hoopes Prize winners:

Jenna Cohn, class of 2023, for her project entitled "Reenvisioning Care in a Post- Roe World: Abortion Doulas as Activists, Care Workers, and Paramedical Actors"—supervised and nominated by Professor Anne Becker.

Katherine Michelle Enright, class of 2023, for her project entitled "From Natural History to National Heritage: The History and Politics of Displaying Colonial Natural History in Singapore Museums"—supervised and nominated by Professor Ajantha Subramanian and Professor Janet Browne.

Jeromel Dela Rosa Lara, class of 2023, for his project entitled "'Smugglers of Faith': Filipina Migrant Domestic Workers in the Middle East and the Making of a Filipino Church of Care"— supervised and nominated by Professor David L. Carrasco.

Waseem Nabulsi, class of 2023, for his project entitled "Magic Mountain: Samaritan Astrological Intervention in Palestinian Misfortune"—supervised and nominated by Professor Steven Caton.

Sajen Plevyak, class of 2023, for his project entitled "American Dreams and Nightmares: Civic Engagement as a Mechanism for Improving Health Outcomes"—supervised and nominated by Professor Arthur Kleinman.

Cade Williams, class of 2023, for his project entitled "Nothing Beside Remains: A Case Study of Confederate Monument Removal in New Orleans"—supervised and nominated by Professor Byron Good.

To all— our sincere congratulations. The department is deeply grateful to be so well represented. About 1/4 of our graduating class of concentrators won this university-wide honor. We cannot wait to see what amazing endeavors are next for all soon-to-be graduates.
