 

#  Upcoming UCLA Symposium Pays Homage to Harvard Anthropology Professor Davíd Carrasco and Others

 The Art History Society at California State University, Los Angeles hosts an event open to the public:

 The 2024 Mesoamerican Symposium is titled “Modern Pillars of Mesoamerica: A Symposium in homage to Mary Miller, Frances F. Berdan, and Davíd Carrasco.”

 The Symposium will be at the James Rosser Hall (ACSB 132) at Cal State LA Main Campus on May 3rd, 2024.

 This year they will be honoring art historian Mary Miller (Getty Research Institute), historian of religions Davíd Carrasco (Harvard), and archaeologist Frances F. Berdan (California State University, San Bernardino).

   
The speakers at this year’s symposium include José Cuéllar aka Dr. Loco (San Francisco State University), Khris Villela (Getty Research Institute), Kim Richter (Getty Research Institute), Diana Magaloni (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), Victoria Lyall (Denver Art Museum), Jeremy Coltman (UC Riverside), Karl Taube (UC Riverside), Kris Lane (Tulane), Ellen Hoobler (The Walters Museum of Art), John M.D. Pohl (Cal State LA), and Leonardo López Luján (Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia). The Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. Manuel Aguilar-Moreno (Cal State LA).

 The event will be free to the public and a complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees, while supplies last.

   
During the extended lunch break, attendees may visit their exhibit celebrating our honorees, their work, and the cultures they have dedicated their careers to in the Special Collections room of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library.
