Professor Theodore Bestor, Reischauer Institute Professor of Social Anthropology and Japanese Studies, died on July 1, 2021 after a long illness. Professor Bestor joined the Harvard Anthropology faculty in 2001 and served as Chair of the Department of Anthropology from 2007 to 2012. Sally Falk Moore, Victor S. Thomas Professor of Anthropology, Emerita, died on May 2, 2021 at the age of 97. Professor Moore joined Harvard's Department of Anthropology in 1981.
