 

#  Christina Warinner Elected to the National Academy of Sciences

The Department of Anthropology at Harvard University is thrilled to announce that [Christina (Tina) Warinner](https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/people/christina-warinner), Professor of Anthropology and Human Evolutionary Biology, has been elected to the [National Academy of Sciences](https://www.nasonline.org/).

Warinner is among 120 newly elected members and 25 international members recognized this year for their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Her election represents one of the highest honors in the scientific community.

Founded in 1863 under a congressional charter signed by Abraham Lincoln, the National Academy of Sciences is a private, nonprofit institution dedicated to recognizing scientific excellence and providing independent, objective advice on matters related to science, engineering, and health. In collaboration with the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Medicine, it plays a vital role in advising the federal government and other organizations.

With this year’s election, the Academy’s total membership has reached 2,705 active members and 557 international members.
