## Non-Terminal AM

Students may apply for a non-terminal AM degree (aka ‘Masters in passing’) en route to the PhD degree. Normally, this application is made after a student has passed the general examinations and fulfilled coursework requirements, except for elective courses. Students are not required to complete the language requirement for a non-terminal AM degree.

Archaeology PhD students may apply for the non-terminal AM after passing the general examination (including the Qualifying Paper) and eight four-credit courses.

Students who do not attain the PhD may be awarded a terminal AM degree when appropriate.
